Kebra
SEJA's cultural programs are designed to provide spaces for artistic expression and underscore the significant role of culture, particularly hip hop culture, in community development. From local cyphers to large-scale festivals, these initiatives offer artists a platform to amplify their voices and advocate for systemic change.
SEJAs yearly hip-hop festival, Kebra, is the culmination of this work. The festival encompasses a dynamic range of cultural activities including MC and dance battles, slams, vogue, musical performances, theatre presentations, workshops, classes, art, photography, graffiti, fairs and panel discussions. By uniting the most compelling aspects of hip-hop and favela culture within Rio de Janeiro, Kebra serves as an influential platform to bring people together, foster dialogue, facilitate cultural exchanges, and drive transformative change.
* Pioneering Inclusion: KEBRA was the first in Rio to integrate the Ballroom community into a Hip Hop festival and to introduce a fashion designer category at The Ball Show.
* Fueling Success: Winners have used their prize money to hone their craft, travelling the world and winning national and international competitions, proudly representing Brazil.
