And were off

Our 2024 kick-off fundraising campaign has been nothing short of inspiring, so thank you all for your incredibly generous support. We’ve already hit an impressive 70% of our £70,000 target. This milestone has filled me with confidence that we will secure the remaining 30%. If you haven't yet had a chance to contribute, please follow find the button below.

Your support is invaluable to us, empowering us to spotlight locally embedded changemakers who together are making a global impact.

The decision to step back from my role as CEO of SEJA was not easy, given the remarkable journey it has been. Yet, the excitement lies in the fresh opportunities this change brings to our organization, including the addition of some new faces to the SEJA family.

Joey Bose, who is a veteran in fundraising with over 15 years of experience, especially in gender empowerment, having played a pivotal role in expanding Women for Women International grants program. As our Lead Grant Writer, Joey's wealth of knowledge is an incredible asset to SEJA.

Clare Kiely joins us with a rich background in senior fundraising roles, most recently as the Head of Funding at the renowned Comic Relief. Clare grew up in Rio de Janeiro and along with Joey, Dylan and I, completes a dynamic fundraising team poised to nudge SEJA into this next significant phase.

Dylan, my co-founder and close friend, in his new role as the CEO, alongside our tenacious 10-person lived experience core team in Rio, will spearhead SEJA's growth across Brazil. Their mission is to amplify our impact, prove its effectiveness and showcase the importance of our work to the world, currently supporting 75 Community Changemakers and 65,000 youngsters

And that leaves me. In my fresh consultancy capacity and being right on the verge of experiencing the enjoyment of parenthood—an exciting (and terrifying 😬) journey in its own right! This new role marks a pivotal shift, positioning me as a conduit between our UK operations and our impactful work across Brazil. I'm excited to contribute to the newly established fundraising committee and collaborate closely with the UK board of trustees.

SEJA's passion remains steadfast: challenge the status quo where less than 1% of funding reaches local community changemakers. Through our proven model, we're investing £18,000 monthly directly into local changemakers across some of the world's most marginalised communities; together with providing over 3,000 hours of workshops and leadership development opportunities to 75 leaders. Our goal is to not only bolster these projects but to help them soar independently.

These local champions are the heart of our mission, offering real solutions, impact, and hope, despite being systematically overlooked.

They are the reason SEJA exists.

 Stay tuned,

George Crawley
